How does HaT work?
Describe your job once in a simple chat. HaT's AI works out exactly what's needed and matches verified local tradies, who send you real, structured offers. You compare them, book the one you want, and pay through HaT — then coordinate the visit in-app and release payment when the job's done.
How are tradies verified?
Every tradie is ID- and ABN-verified before they can send you an offer. For licensed trades like electrical, plumbing and gas, we check the licence against the relevant state register. Tradies who hold current public-liability cover carry a separate "Insured" badge — so you always see who's verified, and how.
Is HaT free? What are the fees?
Posting a job and receiving offers is completely free. When you book, a small service processing fee — around 1.8%, covering secure card processing — is shown inside the all-in price before you agree, never as a surprise afterward. Tradies pay a commission on completed jobs. No lead fees, no subscriptions, no deposits to browse.
How does payment protection work?
When you book, your payment is captured and held securely by HaT — the tradie isn't paid yet. You release the funds once the work is complete, or it releases automatically 48 hours after the tradie marks the job done. If something isn't right, you can raise a dispute first, and no money moves until it's resolved.
What if something goes wrong?
Raise a dispute straight from the job. HaT freezes the payment and reviews the evidence — the agreed quote, the completion photos, and your full chat history. A real person resolves it fairly: release, refund, or a split. Your guarantees under Australian Consumer Law always apply and are never signed away.
Can I choose my own tradie?
Always. You see every offer side by side — the price, ratings from verified past jobs, licence and insurance badges, and any extras the tradie has flagged upfront. HaT sorts the offers to help you decide, but the choice of who to book is entirely yours. No one is assigned to you.
How are prices set — what will a job cost?
Tradies set their own prices, so you compare real offers rather than guesses. You'll always see the full, all-in price before you agree to anything.

What if extra work comes up mid-job?
Sometimes a tradie uncovers something unexpected once they start. They can only charge for it through HaT — with a photo and a price you approve before the extra work happens — and that payment is held in the same protected escrow as the rest. No cash side-deals, and no surprise charges sprung on the day.
