What should I include in the job description?
Which rooms or surfaces, roughly how big, the condition of the walls (cracks, flaking, water stains), and whether you've picked colours yet. A few photos do more than any measurement — painters can commit a real locked price from what they can see.
Is paint included in the price?
The offer states what's included — many painters price labour and paint together, some price labour with paint at cost. If it's not clear, ask in the job chat before you book; the locked price you accept is the price, so get inclusions settled up front.
Do painters fix cracks and holes first, or do I need a plasterer?
Minor prep — filling small cracks, sanding, spot-priming — is a normal part of painting and good painters include it. Larger damage like sagging ceilings or big water-damaged sections is plastering work. Describe the damage honestly and HaT will scope it right, even if that means two trades.
