There's a leak — what should I describe?
Where the water shows inside, when it happens (every rain, only heavy rain, only with wind), your roof type (tiles, Colorbond), and the home's rough age. Photos of the ceiling stain and of the roof from the ground help. Don't climb on the roof for a better shot — it's not worth it.
Storm damage — insurance or just fix it?
For serious damage, contact your insurer first (and the SES if it's urgent and severe) — they may want an assessor before repairs. For smaller damage you're wearing yourself, post it: a written locked-price offer also gives you a real number to weigh against your excess.
